(Yes I'm using the V&G banner. I can do this because I own the community and made the banner, not because I forgot to make one in the style of the Emporium :p).

Happy December everyone! Over at Victoria & George we are holding a Festive Gift Pile, where all members can make presents for the other members for whatever festival they may celebrate in December. This is my gift, and I hope you enjoy it.

Part the first:

Default replacement mailboxes!

I have to make a confession. I have loathed the mailboxes in the game since the days of TS1. They, more than anything place the game in North America, and my sims don't live in North America and never have. They live in a simmerised version of Britain, since I'm British. When I started playing a game based in Victorian England, they bugged me even more, so I took to trying to hide them. Well, no more! I saw another default replacement mailbox a little while ago, and got to wondering if I could make my own, and here it is. British-style letterboxes.

It's not 100% accurate to being British, but it is much, much better than the original mailbox.

Now for the important stuff. There are FOUR files in the download. Choose ONLY ONE. If you DO NOT have Apartment Life, pick from one of the Base Game files. If you have Apartment Life, pick an Apartment Life file. Then choose if you want the plate to be in English or Simlish. Again, put ONLY ONE file into your downloads folder.

Known issues:

This has been tested extensively by me in a game with all eps and most sps, and I have encountered no problems. A couple of people were also testing it for me, but I've not heard back. I'm assuming that since they didn't scream at me that I'd broken their game, it's all good. However, I still consider this in testing, so please bear that in mind. I will do my best to troubleshoot any issues, but as far as I'm aware, I've made this correctly.

Since this is a default replacement it WILL CONFLICT with any other files that change your mailbox, including other defaults and also, buyable residential mailboxes. I encountered an issue with Ancient Highway's residential kit, (any lot created after I put that download in, would show with the Maxis mailbox) but on taking it out, my default showed on all lots.

I have only replaced the mesh and texture, I've not touched the animations for the postman or paying rent, and as such they do look funky. This bothers me far less than having an American mailbox, in my Victorian England but ymmv.

You will have to use move_objects on to move this against a wall. Please be aware when you move it that sims will need to access the front for the residential letterbox, and front and left hand side as you look at it, for the apartment letterbox.

And that's it. Enjoy.

EA for the original textures and mesh that I edited.

Part the second:

Riding habits and hats for ladies, teen to elder.

I don't really have that much to say about these. Designed to fit in with games set in the late 1870s through to the early 1890s, I think they could work for after this period too. They come in two colours (but I might make other colours later) and both have fat and preg morphs. Categorised in everyday, gym and outerwear.

The hat also works teen through to elder and comes in eight of Pooklet's colours.

Greys are linked to the blacks and there is a volatile texture included if you want to make the other colours.

Known issues:

Occasionally there appears to be a tiny, tiny gap on one shoulder seam. I have remade the mesh several times, and made sure all the vertices are welded together, but still it appears. It's so slight and so rare, it bothers me only slightly, and if I can fix it I will. Until then, I'm sorry it's there, but it's nothing to worry about.

EA for the original hat, skirt and sleeves I bashed about.
Chirko for the bodice to the jacket.
Fantasyrogue for the jacket texture.Aquilegia for the hair textures.
Possibly Goat for the ribbon texture. I know I looked at a texture by them for it, but can't remember if I kept it or used another.

Part the third:

TS3 Store Victorian windows converted to TS2.

From the moment I saw these windows on a TS3 house, I wanted them for Regalton. After more hours of swearing over more attempts and months than I care to remember, I managed to extract the meshes and textures. After more swearing and some help from mustluvcats at GOS, I had two working windows. Which I did nothing more with for seven months. Opps. Oh well, they are now finished and ready for you to use.

The wooden frames inside are textured in Sunni's rustic wood in Pooklet's natural colours, but due to the shading underneath them, the colours aren't 100% accurate to Sunni's original swatches. They are still very pretty though, and I kept the file names rather than make up 18 new ones.

Sunni and Pooklet for the wood textures.
Cait and Lauri for the title.

Part the fourth.

Now I'm sure you're all scratching your heads at this and thinking "but, aren't they Macrossi's plants?" And the answer is yes, but I've made them seasonal!

Let me back up a bit here. I create primarily for my own game, and every so often I get an idea for a big project in my head, an idea that will allow me to make my game exactly how I want it. So it was when I discovered Raynuss and Gwenke were making seasonal plants. Suddenly the fact that lupins were blooming in the middle of winter went from being annoying but something I couldn't do anything about to HUGELY annoying, and I could change it!

So here we have some of the plants I've finished. They are the Macrossi plants I use the most.

Aubretia:

Cleome:

Hexagonal Planter:

Irises:

Lavetara:

(Note I also made this mesh bigger, since I've always thought the original was too small for a lavatera).

Leocutheo:

Lupins:

Pedestal Planter:

Rhododendron:

(I made this mesh bigger too, and that's Gwenke's mesh for the winter state, since I thought it looked good for this plant).

As well as all the colours you see above, I've included recolours in all the colours I have in game, noticeably SimVeggie's recolours from MTS. This is because recolouring these meshes is more complicated than recolouring a normal mesh and I wanted to save you a headache. The two exceptions to this are the planters, which are made using a different template and I can't quite figure how to make the right bits recolourable.

Anyway, they are all to be found under plants > shrubs for varying amounts of money. if one isn't there, yell since it's possible I've entered a wrong number when categorising them.

Known issues:

The templates I used are based on trees, and as such, these do fade out when you get near them. I recommend using a mod or object such as this to combat it.

They are also not centred on the tile. Again this is due to the template, and I don't know which part of the file to tinker with to fix it. It doesn't really bother me since I use boolprop snapobjectstogrid false to place plants anyway.

Since the templates are for trees, you will need to use move_objects on to place the planters on any floor other than terrain.

Credits:

Macrossi for the original meshes and textures.
SimVeggie for various textures.
Gwenke and Rayness for the inspiration.
Gwenke for the rhododendron winter mesh and texture.
Rayness for the templates and tutorial I used.

Well I think that's everything, all you need now is the download link.

Happy December!

Let me know if there are any problems and I will try to do my best to fix them.

It's all so lovely! Thanks so much for sharing.

(Why must you create CC that makes me want to go back to playing an historical game just as I'm starting to enjoy modern conveniences in mine again?!?)

You're welcome, I'm glad you like them. Pfft, come on now. You know once you've gone historical, you can never go back. There will always be a part of you that longs for the days of limited objects, and not being able to fulfil wants. ;)

Thank you, I'm glad you like them. The mailboxes are something I've wanted for a long, long time and I'm very pleased with how they've turned out. Let me know if there area any issues with them.

Everything is so wonderful! I'm still having a hard time getting over that mailbox replacement! No more invisible cheating! And the haaaaaaaaabits and hats! More replacements! Oh, my. Thank you so much for everything, Di! And Happy Holidays!

Thank you, I'm glad you like them.:D I admit, I tried the invisible texture, but found that I forgot where I'd put the mailbox (oops) and it wasn't invisible in hood view. That was one reason I decided to give making my own mesh replacement a go.

You're welcome! I hope you get a lot of use out of them. :D

Mailbox spawns on the other side of the road and not selecrable

I have downloaded this wonderful mailbox replacement but I noticed it spawned on the other side of the read and I cannot select or move it with moveobjects on. Am I doing something wrong?
